I visited the Westchase Food Truck Rally a few weeks ago and had the chance to try a new food truck called Pitas On The Run. Pitas On The Run is a Mediterranean-style food truck that serves a variety of items including schwarma, falafel, homemade hummus, and other items. The owners are actually from D.C. and came down to Tampa to launch their food truck here. Prices for food on the truck vary from $4.00 to $9.00.
The owners have been friends and family since their youth and launched this concept to bring something new to the Tampa Bay area and to the food truck scene. The design on the truck is pretty neat and certainly grabbed my attention at the food truck rally. It was a hot summer day at the event so I decided that I would try their loaded pita chip nachos.
All the ingredients were incredibly fresh in both smell and taste and were refreshing in the heat. The pita chips are loaded with hummus, tabouli (a Lebanese Arabian salad), and Greek yogurt. The Greek yogurt is what made the nachos cool on that hot summer day and made it a complete package. The price for this item is fair at $6.00 for the quality you receive. It’s also quite filling so make sure you share with some friends.
Overall I was pretty impressed with Pitas On The Run and look forward to trying more things on their menu in the future. The Falafel and Goat Cheese Stufffed Burger Wrap being the the top things I am looking at. Their Lebanese influence definitely diversifies them as a local food truck. If you haven’t tried Pitas On The Run you can find their locations on their website, social media sites, and on Truckspotting.
