The Latin Grill in Brandon (formerly known as the Latin Cafe 2000) has long been a dining destination for my family. We visited the old location for breakfast and would often order their pancakes and eggs. After the opening of the new location on John Moore Road, Latin Grill has vastly expanded their menu and added plenty of great things to the menu.
One of my favorite items on the menu is their breakfast burrito. My first inclination when I read the words “breakfast burrito” on the menu is “ick”, but as it turns out the Latin Grill’s breakfast burrito is absolutely fantastic. They put tasty pieces of steak inside a burrito with egg and cheese. Some people might consider it more of a brunch item, but regardless I thought it was great and the portion were huge for the price. I came starving and had to take half the burrito home.
On my last visit I ordered Latin Grill’s steak sandwich with french fries and a Malta India. The sandwich was great and completely filling and the fries were good as well and taste homemade. The bread is really one of the best things about their sandwiches though, it is toasted just right. Normally they give you some bread to share before your food arrives as well, with a sweet red sauce and spicy green sauce that we like to mix to get the perfect blend for our bread and it is fantastic!
Make sure to try their fresh fruit shakes. During our last visit we ordered a mango shake and it was incredible. One thing I always appreciate about Latin restaurants is their incorporation of fruits into their food.
Service is usually satisfactory at Latin Grill. During our last visit the waitress was a little bit slow, but grabbed whatever we asked and the kitchen rolled out our dishes in a timely manner as well. It has that diner feel to it when you go there, which reminds me of the West Tampa Sandwich Shop, although thankfully the Latin Grill is much larger and gives you plenty of breathing space to enjoy your meal and conversation.
Latin Grill is a great alternative to all the breakfast chains in Brandon if you’re hungry in the morning and for lunch and dinner they offer several great Spanish choices as well.
